Calvin Sneed retires from Channel 9

I don’t have a lot of information just yet, but Calvin Sneed has announced he is retiring from WTVC Channel 9 on February 28th.  Calvin first worked there in the early 1970s, left, and came back in 1992.  He’s been in Chattanooga ever since, and has been a great friend and competitor.

He is also writing a coffee table book, with lots of photographs of bridges, which he describes as his passion.  Good luck Calvin!

Calvin, we’re going to miss you! Love your consumer watch, you even came to my place of work many years ago. It is East Brainerd Animal Hospital! You’re a great reporter and we know when we “call Calvin” you will never let us down. Keep up the great work, can’t wait to see your bridge book!!

We booked reservations at the Microtel Inn & Suites in Chattanooga at the Hamilton Place exit. We have stayed at this chain hotel in Slidell, La & Ocala, Fl with no problems. We got here last night about 9:00. (Friday night) When we got up this morning our heat wasn’t working and the other room smelled like smoke. When I made the reservation I requested non smoking rooms. We told them this morning upon leaving about the heat and the room smelling like smoke. Upon returning from our wonderful day in Chattanooga we were told we had to leave because we were seen smoking in our room by one of the staff. First thing is none of us SMOKE. They called the Chattanooga police because we were trying to explain this was wrong. (they said we was disturbing the peace)? We were also charged a extra 250.00 fee for smoking. We will be calling the manager Monday morning. So we packed up went and paid for us another room at another hotel. Is there anything we can do?

Hi Calvin. I worked with you at WTVC way back in the mid 90’s. You always impressed me as a no-nonsense kind of reporter, always accurate and an outstanding addition to our craft. Chattanooga will miss you Sir. Enjoy your retirement and I’ll look forward to your book.
